WolvSec is a computer security club and CTF team at the University of Michigan. We host weekly meetings and events where we discuss current topics and teach skills related to cybersecurity. We also compete in competitions and work on various security projects. The club is composed of students, alumni, staff, and local professionals who are all focused on creating a friendly and collaborative learning environment for cybersecurity.

What we do

As a club, we aim to expand our knowledge and skills in cybersecurity. We accomplish this in a few ways: hosting guest presenters, who talk about research or industry practices; competing in cybersecurity CTFs, in which we test and expand our skills through practical applications; creating projects, to further expand our capabilities. Below is a list of some of the areas of security we are interested in.

Reverse Engineering

Understanding the functionality of a given piece of software or hardware such that you can identify deeper issues.

Binary Exploitation

Taking advantage of bugs or flaws in software to leak information or take control.

The practice and study of techniques for secure communication in the presence of adversarial behavior.

Web Exploitation

Attacking protocols, software, and infrastructure related to the world wide web.

The application of investigation and analysis techniques to gather and preserve evidence from a particular computing system.

Cybersecurity is a very broad field that encompasses many fields. From social engineering to autonomous vehicles, almost everything needs to be designed with security in mind.

University Community

Although we are a student organization, our members come from the broad University of Michigan community and local Ann Arbor residents. Our members include students, staff, faculty, alumni, and local professionals. From complete novices to industry experts, we all share a desire to expand our knowledge and skills in cybersecurity.
